Primal Kitchen Caesar Dressing Reviews

There is so much health and lifestyle advice out there on the internet and on social media and so much of it is aimed at women.

With most product recommendations online involving money changing hands, it can be really hard to know which advice is good and which to take with a pinch of low-sodium salt.

It’s easy enough to get sucked into the cycle of encountering influential information, beating yourself up because you’re not perfect, and then spiraling into a toxic mental state that is not helping you to prioritize your wellness.

We don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that most women struggle with their body image and self-esteem and when it’s time to make a change to better ourselves, we typically look to the internet to guide us and let ourselves be funneled into purchases to mark this change.

But how do you know that the product is going to live up to the health hype? Well, you look at reviews and some can be trusted and some may not be honest, so what then?

Life is way too short for trawling the internet trying to find enough reviews to get an honest picture of a product and this is why we have done the research for you.

You simply cannot waste your precious time looking over every detail of a salad dressing, so you do you, and let us give you a whistle-stop tour of the Primal Kitchen brand and their signature Caesar dressing.

We’ll tell you everything you need to know about this particular health product, without any bias so you can make an informed decision. After all, you should know what you’re putting in your own body.

Primal Kitchen: What’s The Story?

Primal Kitchen Caesar Dressing Reviews

Primal Kitchen is essentially a health food brand that sells what they refer to as “pantry staples”.

They started with a mayonnaise made with avocado oil and now they have a range of sauces, marinades, condiments, protein bars, and powders for shakes.

Created by Mark Sisson, Primal Kitchen is proud to include real, simple, and exceptional ingredients in its products. Unlike many diet condiment brands, Primal Kitchen does not strive to remove the calories in our traditional condiments and sauces at the expense of adding artificial ingredients.

They believe in making table sauces and such, more satiating to help with maintaining or losing weight in a healthy way.

They include healthy fats like avocado oil, oregano oil, or collagen to make their products feel more satisfying when consumed.

They are also pretty allergy-friendly as their range contains no gluten, dairy, grains, soy, or refined sugar.

Primal Kitchen likes to keep its ingredients simple, natural, and unprocessed where they can so that artificial additives aren’t included.

The founder believed that you are what you eat and that the dietary choices you make each day and over a long period of time will have either a positive or negative effect on your body and mind.

Their website states that “food can lead you down a path of disease, pain and despair”. It’s not exactly uplifting, but their point is that consuming diet foods and constantly restricting ourselves can have a negative effect on how we see ourselves as well as our long-term health.

Primal Kitchen thinks that we should be prioritizing filling our bodies up with good things rather than restricting ourselves and they claim that their products are full of the good stuff that will support your health, rather than damage it.

So, just what is in this Caesar dressing that makes it so healthy? Let’s find out.

Caesar Dressing And Marinade

Primal Kitchen Caesar Dressing Reviews

More than a salad dressing, this product can be used to drizzle over your lettuce bowl, but it can also work in hot meals as a marinade, or it can be used as a dipping sauce.

That’s a pretty versatile dressing, which is great because how many of us have ever bought a salad dressing with the intention of turning over a new lifestyle-based leaf only to still have that same bottle in the refrigerator, months (if not years) later with most of its contents still intact?

It can’t be just us. The more dishes it can be used in, the better as far as we’re concerned.

What’s In The Bottle?

Ah yes, the all-important ingredients that Primal Kitchen claims are “real” “clean” and “simple”.

Well let’s see, shall we? Well, on the label, there is a pretty long list of ingredients including things such as avocado oil, coconut sap, organic apple cider vinegar, organic lemon juice concentrate, black pepper, organic gum acacia, and guar gum.

There are some pretty obscure ingredients there, but most of them are stated to be organic, which is good if you’re wanting to eat clean.

The main ingredients the company highlights are avocado oil, apple cider vinegar, and herbs and spices. Unlike the caesar dressings you might pick up in the grocery store, this is not cream-based as it contains no dairy.

This might lead you to think that there will be no fat in this item but that is certainly not correct. This bottle is powered by fats, just healthier fats.

The label claims that it has 14 grams of fat per two tablespoons serving, but when you look at the ingredients, it’s easy to see where it comes from.

Most of the ingredients are low calorie and low sugar but anyone who has ever tried to seriously lose some weight before will know that fat contains the highest calorie content per gram of all food groups.

Despite this, many diets and lifestyles see success from high fat, low carb diets such as the Keto or Paleo diets.

This encourages the body to feast on the energy of fats which easily pass through the system and swap carbohydrates for more protein-rich foods.

Plenty of people have success with these dietary programs and one of the biggest upsides of them is that you’re eating real food.

Shake or juice diets are all very well, but they are not generally thought to be healthy and they significantly increase the number of processed and artificial foods you will consume daily.

Keto has a natural feel to it, in the way it encourages you to eat lean protein and low-calorie veggies over processed foods.

If low carb diets are something you religiously follow or dabble in then you’ll be relieved to hear that each portion of Primal Kitchen Caesar dressing has only two grams of carbohydrates and zero grams of sugar.

That’s good news if you are wanting to follow a sugar restricted diet for health or wellbeing reasons.

Salad dressings are usually full of processed ingredients but the only suspicious-looking ones we can see in this bottle are nutritional yeast, Organic coconut aminos, and lemon juice concentrate.

For your own information, nutritional yeast is actually pretty, you know, nutritional and it’s usually added to make foods more energy-rich and good for you, so we don’t actually have any issues with that.

The label explains that coconut aminos are a combination of coconut sap and sea salt, so there are no artificial ingredients there.

As for the lemon juice, fresh might have been better but we do get that it’s in a bottle and there are limitations on the shelf life of fresh ingredients, so we’re not too upset by that.

Overall, this product looks to be mostly made from unprocessed, natural, and often organic ingredients and we love that it contains no dairy.

If you are allergic to egg or tree nuts, then you should avoid this product though since it contains both organic eggs and coconut products.

What’s The Flavor?

Enough about the nutritional content and organic ingredients, let’s get down to what really matters with a salad dressing, the taste.

Every bottle of dressing is begun with the best of intentions, but unless what’s inside is capable of making bowls of leafy greens taste like heaven, you’re never going to buy a second bottle.

Primal Kitchen describes their caesar dressing and marinade as achieving a “classic” caesar taste, but how true is that? And is it genuinely tasty according to users? Let’s find out.

Well according to reviewers, this dressing is either a love or a hate kind of thing. Some verified purchasers on Amazon declare it to be “awesome” and others describe it as “low carb, gluten free, and tastes horrible”.

It scores a very respectable rating of 4.3 stars out of five on Amazon and an optimistic 4.6 on Primal Kitchen’s own website at the time of writing.

We suppose that there are going to be some haters for everything if you look hard enough.

One reviewer was super excited that this dressing contains no soy, since they are severely allergic and finds that almost all salad dressings have soy in them.

This same five-star reviewer said that this product is “expensive” for a salad dressing, but the taste is great.

In terms of consistency, some reviewers mention that this dressing is thinner and more watery than your average supermarket variety as well as being pricer, but several reviews did note that it was more satisfying than cream-based products and that it fit in with low-carb diets like Whole 30.

Final Thoughts

On Primal Kitchen’s own website, 93% of their customers said they were happy to recommend the product which is a pretty high rate of return custom and recommendation.

In terms of whether this is a good product to buy or not, we think it really depends on what you want from it.

If you want a tasty Caesar salad dressing then you could get one much cheaper at the store, but if you are conscious of your diet and try to avoid unnatural ingredients in what you eat, you could certainly do much worse than this product.

Healthy fats are a great source of energy, especially if used instead of carbs on a diet that focuses on a hunter-style or caveman diet.

There are several ingredients in this dressing that lead us to believe that it is a good product that takes the user’s health seriously, but in terms of taste, you might find that you prefer your creamy, saturated fat-full, dairy-based dressings from the store or made from scratch.

If the taste is the priority for you, then this seems to satisfy most users, but its true value lies mostly in the clean, simple ingredients it contains and the absence of common allergens too.
